This is the home page dedicated to Georgia Southern University's Kendo Club. We are Kendo enthusiasts at Georgia Southern University. We are committed to the proper practice of Kendo and the life lessons it has to teach. We are also committed to making Kendo enjoyable to everyone club members, and non-members alike. "The purpose of practicing Kendo is: To mold the mind and body, To cultivate a vigorous spirit, And through correct and rigid training, To strive for improvement in the art of Kendo, To hold in esteem human courtesy and honor, To associate with others with sincerity, And to forever pursue the cultivation of oneself. This will make one be able: To love his/her country and society, To contribute to the development of culture And to promote peace and prosperity among all peoples." (The Concept of Kendo was established by All Japan Kendo Federation in 1975.) For those of you who don't know, Kendo is the art of Japanese fencing. It is an ancient martial art that follows the principles of the katana ( Japanese sword). Along with developing physically, Kendo also pushes us to develop in higher ways of the mind and spirit. As a club dedicated to Kendo we attempt to make Kendo's goals our own as well. We hope that we can make Kendo enjoyable and produce not only talented kendokas (Kendo practitioners) but all around amazing human beings. We hope your passion for Kendo will grow as ours has.
